Three selected to Boone County Historical Society Hall of Fame

The Boone County Historical Society inducted three members into its Hall of Fame on Thursday night at the Walters Museum and Galleries.

The 2014 inductees are Tribune columnist and historian Warren Dalton, Little Dixie Construction Co., and the late Don Sanders, a former Boone County commissioner.

As a member of the Senate staff during the Watergate hearings in the early 1970s, Sanders asked a question that revealed the existence of the audio tapes that resulted in the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

Dalton, 97, has written a twice-monthly column for the Tribune since 2006 featuring people, businesses and events in Columbia history and owns historical property in downtown Columbia.

Little Dixie is a 50-year-old construction company owned by John States and siblings Sara Emily and Mac LeMone. The company has left an indelible mark on Columbia architecture and has been a major supporter of the historical society.
